2012 has been a great year for short animation lovers. It seems that no matter how old you are, animation movies always brings you joy. 3D, 2D or stop-motion short animations become more and more appreciated. If few years ago they weren't so seriously considered now those dazzling storytellers can be nominated for SOTW (Short Of The Week)Awards.
Liam Neeson’s voice talents will be heard on South – Africa Triggerfish Animation Studio’s new film „Khumba”. Directed by Anthony Silverston and written by Camilla Bubna-Kasteliz, the film is represented by LA-based sales agent CMG and will be theatrically distributed by Millennium Entertainment in the US later this year.
Netflix, the largest video-streaming service signed a partnership with DreamWorks Animation to create an original cartoon series aimed specially for children.
The series, “Turbo: F.A.S.T (Fast Action Stunt Team) is based on DreamWorks Animation‘s upcoming theatrical film Turbo. The 26 episodes will be available to Netflix’s 33 million streaming customers starting in December, following the release of “Turbo” film in July.

“Wreck-It Ralph” is a 3D computer-animated comedy produced and distributed by Walt Disney. It is a tribute to arcade gaming which offers several visual styles that guarantee laughs for audiences of all ages and a nostalgic feeling from begging to end. It was released on November 2, 2012 in the United States, after having its world premiere on October 29.
The animated movie “Hotel Transylvania” starring Adam Sandler as the main character Dracula, takes the top spot in Romania. The comedy exceeded critics’ expectations and comfortably occupied the first place at the box office.
“Turkeys” is a new animated movie set to be released in 2014 starring Owen Wilson (“Cars”) and Woody Harrelson (“Hunger Games”) as the main voice characters. The film follows the story of two turkeys from opposite sides, which are forced to combine their skills in order to change the course of history and remove turkeys form food menus. Sounds fun, right?
Comedy Central announced that a new comedy series called “Triptank” has been set to premiere next fall. So far, only eight episodes had been ordered and others will follow if the show will captivate the audience.
It seems like a new chapter in the history of comic horror movies was opened this month with the premiere of “Hotel Transylvania” and “Frankenweenie”. I don’t know if the proximity of Halloween pushes us towards watching unreal bloody monsters, but certainly the movies were well received by the audience.
