On 23 May 2013
Comedian Hannibal Buress (30 Rock, SNL) puts his hilarious work on Comedy Central’s new show. He signed over for the new Amy Poehler’s series “Broad City”. The “funniest young comic I've seen in years" as Chris Rock says, will also exec produce a TV pilot for the network, will tape an hour long stand-up special and will go on a nationwide "Comedy Central Live" stand-up tour.
"Hannibal Buress has one of the great names in comedy; he’s talented in a multifaceted way,” says Kent Alterman, President of Comedy Central. The comedian was on “50 Funniest People now” Rolling Stone’s list and he was awarded Best Club Comic at the 2012 Comedy Awards and, in July 2010, Buress made Variety magazine's "Ten Comics to Watch in 2010" list.
"This is really exciting,” says Buress. “I can finally quit my day job at Quiznos. People talk down about the Illuminati a lot but this is proof that membership has its benefits. It’s a bunch of things that I like to do, and they were able to put it together in an all-encompassing deal”
His previous album “My Name Is Hannibal” was one of the best comedy albums in 2010. He starred in his first hour-long stand-up special called “Hannibal Buress: Animal Furnace” in 2010.
Buress continues to tour and hosts a weekly stand-up comedy show at The Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, New York on Sunday evenings. He currently co-stars with Eric André on The Eric André Show on Adult Swim.
