Just Imagine: CHRIS ROCK And DAVE CHAPPELLE On Stage
On 28 February 2013
Wednesday night Dave Chappelle made a surprise appearance at the legendary nightclub, Comedy Cellar but that was not all. After he performed for 45 exciting and hilarious minutes, the comedian had an even bigger surprise: Chris Rock came out of nowhere and jumped on stage.
Two comedy titans on the same stage. That had to be the funniest show ever. They spent the next hour talking and mocking the Oscars, Seth MacFarlane, Kevin Hart, Prince, President Obama and they messaged Jay Z, Lenny Kravitz and Arsenio Hall to join them for a late-night meal of spaghetti.
They talked about touring together "After next Tuesday, I'm free for like 11 years," Chapelle told Rock when the subject came up. Rock replied. "By Halloween, I could do some dates. Dave's like, let's just do it Wednesday. Unannounced!"
But let’s take them separately now:
Dave Chappelle, who famously walked away from his popular Comedy Central show in 2005 , has appeared at Comedy Cellar to try out new material for the past few days. Yes, we like him, he’s hilarious in stand-up and on his old show, but it comes off as hypocritical since he left showbiz after not wanting to be a sock puppet for corporate interests and now he's discussing a tour sustained by golddigger- promoters and TV executives.
Chris Rock will appear in the sequel to Adam Sandler's “Grown Ups” this summer. The stand-up comic is also executive producer of the FX late-night talk show “Totally Biased With Kamau Bell. “Chris spoke about this before. He said he was inspired by The Throne (Jay-Z & Kanye) and wanted to do an arena tour with Chappelle as like a comedic version of “The Throne”.
