LOL 2013, The Stand-Up Comedy Night Brings You Comedy Geniuses
On 03 April 2013
LOL stand-up comedy show is back in town to rock the serotonin out of you.
With its 20th Special Edition, the show debuts with Malta’s favourite, Andre Vincent. He is known as one of UK’s top stand-up comedians with an individual style and a straight tongue.
He hosted a Saturday night show on Channel 4, three sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival, countless radio shows and presenter of two award-nominated television programmes.
There’s no stand-up without a special guest and this year we will have Sean Hughes, the man behind the bestsellers “The Detainees” (1998) and “It's What He Would Have Wanted” (2000). The British "Independent" newspaper has compared to the likes of Irvine Welsh, James Kelman and Will Self.
Hughes has won acclaim with his trademark black comedy and he’s the youngest winner of the Perrier Award for Comedy at the Edinburgh Festival; he has gone on to critically acclaimed performances in television and film.
The other two acts are Paul Thorne and Wayne Deakin.
Thorne is one of Britain’s most established stand-up comedians. He is performing at all of the UK’s major comedy venues and festivals. Thorne can also be seen weekly at London’s Comedy Store as a member of The Cutting Edge team of comedians who perform topical material based on the week’s news.
Deakin is regular headliner at all Australian comedy venues and also tours constantly throughout the US and Canada. Currently based in London, he works the Comedy Store, Jongleurs and Glee Clubs as well as touring Asia, the Middle East and the Isle of Man.
It’s the seventh time LOL is being held in Malta. It debuts on April 5 and it lasts for two days.
