ROB BRYDAN Will Host Bristol Slapstick Festival
On 04 March 2013
The organizers of the Bristol Slapstick Festival announced the line-up for this year’s “Stand-up for Slapstick” found raising evening comedy.
AWARD-winning actor and comedian Rob Brydon will head the all-star line-up at Colston Hall on 20 May.
Stand Up For Slapstick will feature some of the biggest names in comedy including Rob Brydon's “Would I Lie To You?” co-panelist Lee Mack, one of Britain's top female stand-ups, Shappi Khorsandi, Time Out Comedy Award winner Boothby Graffoe and Henning Wehn, who styles himself as Germany's UK Comedy Ambassador and is a regular contestant on BBC Radio 5 Live show Fighting Talk.
Slapstick festival director Chris Daniels said: "Both Rob Brydon and Lee Mack are in such high demand with screen work these days that neither of them has any plans for live tours this year. So to have them on the same bill in Bristol is an incredible coup for Slapstick, and further proof of the high regard in which top comics hold our festival."
The internationally acclaimed Slapstick Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary next year and the proceeds of this event will help it to do so in style, despite rising costs and reduced availability of private sponsorship and public grants.
Slapstick is Britain's leading festival of silent and vintage screen comedy. It began in 2005 and this year's event, held last month, featured four days of shows, including a gala presented by leading comic Victoria Wood.
In January, 24 Slapstick Festival’s central theme was funny ladies and it featured Marion Davies and Colleen Moore, as well as the irresistible comedy troupers, Anita Garvin and Marion Byron.
At Bristol Festival you can see some of today’s most celebrated comedy performers and finest film musicians paying their tributes to the great clowns of the movies’ golden age
